Wolf & Cub
Hailing from the city of churches, Wolf & Cub have been making their own psychedelic musical pilgrimage since they formed in 2002. Renowned for their feverish live shows, howling guitar and punctured lyrics, Wolf & Cub have graced stages around the world with the likes of TV on the Radio, Primal Scream, The Killers and Queens of the Stone Age.
Debuting with a self-titled EP in 2004, Wolf & Cub quickly made waves among industry heavyweights across the globe, and were signed to legendary imprint 4AD. Soon enough, Radio BBC had declared their track Steal Their Gold single of the week, and NME had written that the band ‘meld every great moment in music ever into the hottest new thing on the planet’.
In 2007, Wolf & Cub released their debut album, Vessels, to great acclaim, and followed up in 2009 with Science and Sorcery. Recorded with Bumblebeez genius Chris Colonna, Science and Sorcery is awash with the psyched out vocals and intergalactic guitar of front man Joel Byrne, Thomas Mayhew’s driving bass and the highly combustible percussion of Joel Carey and newcomer Marvin Hammond.
Taking the raw elements of the early demos and coupling them with Colonna’s studio wizardry, Science and Sorcery is a memorable cocktail, one part lysergic one part darkly danceable.
