Canadian indie rockers The Most Serene Republic are masters of stimulating senses and stirring emotions. Formed by Adrian Jewett and Ryan Lenssen in 2003, The Most Serene Republic are a band that constantly challenge themselves to keep moving, to stay in tune with the ebbs and flows of nature and to reflect this in their sound. Hypersensitive and buoyed on by endearing melodrama in their heads, The Most Serene Republic remain a captivating force because they continue to wrestle with their existence (and ours) by conveying such tension and conflict in their extraordinary music.

The band released their first lp, the sophisticated Underwater Cinematographer, in 2005. Since then, the sonic density of the group's early sound has, over the years, given way to more dynamic, engaging fare, as visceral as the most obviously cloying pop music but with a more scintillating head on its shoulders. With each new record, the band become more immediate and attainable. With its amalgam of anthemic pop, electronica, ornate classical flourishes, and some not-so-obvious nods to classic R&B, 2009's …And The Ever Expanding Universe is not the document of a band ingratiating itself for broader appeal. With new drummer Adam Balsam infusing their sound with an unexpectedly swinging stomp, The Most Serene Republic sound as challenging as ever.
