Qua is none other than Melbourne producer and electronic artist Cornel Wilczek. By day, Cornel is an in-demand soundtrack composer and producer, who has worked with Architecture in Helsinki, Mountains in the Sky and Clue to Kalo.

By night, Qua is an electronic artist, responsible for joyful sonic vistas that simultaneously tug the heartstrings and stimulate the neurons. Debuting with Forgetabout in 2002 to near rapturous acclaim, Qua followed up with Painting Monsters on Clouds, an unrepentantly gorgeous and nostalgic mix of sunlit electronics and guitars. In 2009, he returned with Q&A, possibly his finest work yet, its eleven tracks showcasing the work of a man with a Masters in Sound Art who also knows how to dance.

Qua's work uses field recordings as much as guitar, homemade, noisy software as much as delicate acoustic instruments, rich spatial environments as much as the digital frenzy of an array of sound-plugins, drawing upon elements of world music, folk and even rock. Though predominantly light in tone, the whimsical nature of Qua’s songs often masks the complexity of the arrangements and the craftsmanship of their creator.
