Panda Bear's new lp has a name, and it's Tomboy

As Animal Collective take a break and prepare for the release of a film collaboration (see trailer below), details are emerging of AC main man Panda Bear's upcoming solo record, the follow up to 2007's definitively awesome Person Pitch.
The record's title, Tomboy, was first alluded to by the release of a t-shirt bearing the title a few month's back; the title has since been confirmed by the band's publicist, and a tentative release date has been announced: we can expect to see Tomboy out on Paw Tracks in September.
In an interview with Pedestrian.tv, Lennox said he spent a long time thinking about what direction he wanted to take in his solo work during the recording of Animal Collective's much-lauded Merriweather Post Pavilion, and began work on Tomboy in September of last year at home in Lisbon, where he lives with his family. Lennox said the new direction sees him moving away from the samples that have characterised much of his solo work thus far, a departure he says he's finding 'scary but also exciting as well.'
'The rhythms are really basic and kind of raw and simple and are electronic,' he went on. 'It's not live instrumentation, I've been playing guitar but I feed it through the same thing that the sequences are on. It's a very electronic sound and very voice heavy. A simple arrangement of drums, the guitar and singing. Really there are only two or three elements to every song. It's pretty raw sounding for better for worse.'
Lennox described the tone of Tomboy as 'a lot darker' than Person Pitch's sunny hues, adding that it finds him in a more 'romantic' and 'dramatic' mood. We can't wait to hear it. More details as they come to hand.
