Otouto Release New Clip, Play Final Oz Show Before U.S. Tour
Posted: 12 August, 2010
Big things are happening for Melbourne art-pop trio Otouto: not only have the band just released a great new dance video for W. Hillier, the third song from their acclaimed debut lp, Pip, but they've just announced a rather large North American tour supporting lo-fi synth-pop one-man band Casiotone For the Painfully Alone.
The band will be playing one more show two more shows on our shores before they jet off on the 33-date, two country tour: the first is tomorrow night, Friday 13 August, at Melt in Sydney (with support from The Maple Trail and new Two Bright Lakes signings Collarbones) followed by a final Melbourne show, at the Curtin Hotel on 21 August.
The W. Hillier clip, which you can watch below, is a collaboration with the No Lights No Lycra crew, whose seriously fun brand dancing is catching on all over the world. (Just last week, No Lights No Lycra's new Brooklyn chapter was featured in the New York Times.) The clip was directed by Alice Glenn and choreographed by Heidi Barrett, and features Otouto and friends being put through their dance paces.
The band's North American tour kicks off on 9 September in Chicago, and wraps up roughly six weeks later in Brooklyn after a few dates in Canada. Check out the beautiful tour poster, designed by Yuki Nishimura, below.
