Equal parts pub and recital hall, the music of Oliver Mann inhabits a world all its own. Wild juxtapositions are the norm for Mann, who in 2009 appeared onstage at London's well-regarded Borderline (where acts like Jeff Buckley, the Dirty Three and Crowded House played their first shows), and then, a few days later, took the stage alongside some of Australia’s most well-regarded opera singers in Victorian Opera’s production of Richard Strauss’ opera Ariadne Auf Naxos.

Mann's most recent release, The Possum Wakes at Night, pitted drum-kit solos with choirs, harpsichords with hi-hats. Eclectic and iconoclastic, Mann has a unique knack of making tangential influences coherent. He composes songs for his voice in the same way a bird fusses over a nest for its newborn: collecting string and straw and wrappers. Mann released his debut album, Oliver Mann Sings, in 2005, and The Possum Wakes At Night in 2008. In 2009 he recorded Tin Power, a 2-track limited edition 7”. He lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
