Kes Band is the expansive, always-changing project of Karl E. Scullin, one of the most renowned and prolific songwriters in the Melbourne underground. Scullin’s spacious, unique compositions feature a voiceless lyricism and a flair for the transcendental, making use of richly beautiful string arrangements and delicate playing, the songs reverberating with almost visual joy and sorrow.

The Kes Band’s all-instrumental second lp, II, sees the band exploring some resonant new dimensions, with a band of players that includes some of Melbourne’s most accomplished players, including Laura Jean, Biddy Connor, Lehmann Smith and Julian Patterson.
