Faux Pas joins Gaga
Posted: 10 October, 2009
Gaga is rapt to announce the signing of Melbourne-based electronic wizard and Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast Tim Shiel, aka Faux Pas, to the stable. Faux Pas' playfully psychedelic electro-pop, equal parts summer swoon and cosmic digitalia, is the kind of music that hits you upside the head immediately and then, with each repeat listen, slowly sinks its teeth further into you.
Working mostly from what he describes as his 'modest' home studio, Faux Pas has put out three eps and a full length in the last four years, including remixes for local lights Pikelet, Aleks and the Ramps, and, ah, Noiseworks, among many others. Late last year, in an admirable act of civic generosity, Faux Pas gave away his Chasing Waterfalls ep for free, no strings attached.
Faux Pas' eagerly awaited second lp is due in 2010. In the meantime, you can hear his dulcet tones on rrr on Sunday nights, or head over to his excellent blog, which features a well-stocked store and a license photo of him in which he looks exactly like Henry Wagons.
