Animal Collective tour dates leaked
Posted: 13 July, 2009
In what is rapidly coming one of the summer's worst kept secrets, ecstatic weirdos Animal Collective will reportedly be gracing Australian shores for the second time later this year, in support of Merriweather Post Pavilion, an album of giddy delights that continues to blow everyone's mind.
The dates, which were first leaked by jambase.com, include the mighty Meredith Music Festival, where the band will presumably get a dusk set and change everyone's DNA for good. With basically everybody who's heard it praising its twisted, happy genius, Merriweather Post Pavilion has confirmed Animal Collective as one of the most consistently inventive and rewarding acts of recent times, a band capable of leaping from tribal jams to noisy freakouts to sun-drenched pop without so much as breaking stride.
Their live show, by all accounts, is an ever-changing, awe-inspiring thing, featuring skeletons and heart-starting bass pulses and some of the most bizarrely beautiful vocal melodies you've never heard.
Here are the leaked dates:
10/12/09: Tivoli, Brisbane
11/12/09: Enmore Theatre, Sydney
12/12/09: Meredith Music Festival
17/12/09: Capitol, Perth
While you wait for summer to arrive, check out the new video for Summertime Clothes, featuring what is presumably the current trio of Avey Tare, Panda Bear and the Geologist writhing around in red bubbles, or the band peforming the same song on Letterman.
